The Mediterranean Sea

Today we left the apartment and headed for the beach!  Unfortunately, when we jumped on the bus, we went the wrong way.  Ended up WAY on the other side of town.  While waiting for the GPS to figure out how to get us out of our mess, we turned around and behold, right next to the bus stop was a playground.  Impromptu play break!  We decided we were much better at the metro, so after a few minutes of romping, we huffed over to the nearest metro station and got back on track.

Check another box off my bucket list, today we splashed in the Mediterranean.  The beach was lovely and the kids all got in the water fearlessly and played.

The water wasn't super warm, but the beach was, so the water was refreshing.

There was a great number of "bury me in the sand" requests today.  They were all so sandy!

And there were treasures to look for.  Best find of the day was a purple seashell.

And things to be built.  Luke and Gabi built an automated seashell cleaner, complete with protected channel to bring in new seawater.

The water was so clear, and we all had a great time.  We came home a bit more pink than I would have liked, but we had a small bottle of our favorite lavender essential oil, so we will survive.  I am always the worst when it comes to sunburns - the rest of these guys have great complexions, they are all just a smidgen pink.  Pretty sure I look like a lobster.

We finished, then headed over to the marina for a late lunch/early dinner, then went home.  After a quick stop to print out our tickets for Sagrada Familia tomorrow and a dash to the market, we are happily cooling down in the apartment for the night.

  1. How awesome! I am loving all your pictures and living vicariously through your fun overseas trip! The Mediterraean looks beautiful! (I drove by your old house today :( Still doesn't seem like you're really gone. Maybe it will hit me in the fall...)
