Hunting Island State Park 6/18

We FINALLY made it to the beach!

I planned this vacation so many months ago that it is difficult to believe that we finally are here.

Of course, no one else is having trouble believing it!   Hunting Island is a beautiful campground and honestly I feel like we are in a tropical paradise.  Our campsite is surrounded by palms and pines - and its less than a five minute walk to the Atlantic.  The sand is soft and there are a gazillion shells on the beach (it seems like half of which are now in buckets in front of our door!)

The kids are having so much fun playing and hanging out on the beach - here are the girls making sand pyramids.

Of course there is shell collecting, which leads us to the unexpected need to do some shell washing!  Never thought about that (being a girl from Arizona) but it makes sense.

The kids are much more comfortable playing in the surf than they were the last time we went to the beach.  Gabi was afraid of the water a couple years ago, and now we have to really keep hold of her or she will just go in deeper and deeper - and the rip currents as the tide goes out are pretty wicked so we have to be careful.

I love that there are so few people on the beach.  Its like its our own private little paradise.

Isa wasn't sure about the whole wave thing - but the water is so warm it is difficult to stay away.

Our friends Chris and Don met us out here and will be with us for a good part of the rest of our trip.  We are so glad for the extra help - especially in the ocean!
